Fr Bishoy Kamel - His Life Some stories in Coptic history don’t just inspire, they stop you in your tracks. Father Bishoy Kamel’s journey is one of them. Born Sami Kamel in 1931 in Egypt, he grew up immersed in the life of the Church, serving in the sanctuary, learning Coptic, and falling in love with the hymns and rites from a young age. At the same time, he was a brilliant student, entering Alexandria University at just sixteen and graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1951.
